January Glossybox 2018 | Beauty

I've been getting monthly Glossyboxes for a few months now, since August of 2017. Although some people seem to give it a hard time, I actually quite like the service. It's introduced me to some amazing brands that I've never heard of before, and supplies me with five new beauty products a month- even though you pay for them, it almost feels like you got them for free by the time they arrive!

So, I decided to do a post highlighting what I received in the first Glossybox of 2018.

What is Glossybox?

So, what even is it? Glossybox is a monthly subscription service that ships to ten different countries- Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, France & Norway, to name a few.

In Ireland, you pay €14.00 a month to receive a box, and nearly €6.00 for packing & shipping, which brings the total cost to €20.00 per month. For that €20.00 you receive 5 beauty products at your doorstep which usually retail between €60.00 and €100.00. Not bad right?

The typical Glossybox box is a baby pink box, labelled with the company name, and all products inside are wrapped up with tissue and ribbon. You also get a product card, with all the info on the products as well as the price of each item.

Every few boxes, you have special edition boxes, where the box is beautifully decorated depending on theme (Christmas for example.) The first special edition box is February's box, for Valentine's Day & you can check that out

So what was in January's box?

First up we received these Beauty Beneath multi nutrient supplements for fine lines & wrinkles. This is a one month supply & retails for €49.99. Said to be a nutrient-rich beauty supplement that works beneath the surface. It is formulated with an expert blend of phyto-nutrients including Lycopene and Vitamins C and E and also includes Biotin, Marine Collagen and Omegas 3 & 6.

I decided to start with this, as this is the one I was most disappointed by. I just don't have much use for these, I actually passed them off to my mum because I didn't want them to go to waste.

That is probably the one thing that irritates me a little about Glossybox, they say the boxes are specifically tailored to your beauty profile (something you fill out when you join) but it definitely is not.

For me this product was just a waste, and like I said, I passed them off.

Next up was this gorgeous Green Tea Primer  by Evelyn Iona. I'd never heard of the product or brand before, so this was a nice new addition to my primer drawer.

Evelyn Iona is vegan and cruelty-free. This products retails on their website for $29.50 and we did receive a full size in the box this month.

This green tea primer is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, made with sensitive skin in mind, is made with natural ingredients, contains skin repairing ingredients such as avocado oil & smooths fine lines.

I must say, this does leave your skin feeling soft & looking very smooth. I've actually used this everyday since I got it, and I have actually been loving it an awful lot.

This next product is actually a cream blush from a French brand called Apicia. I've never heard of this brand, and when I checked out the website, the whole thing was in French (I didn't realise they were a French brand until then.)

So, with a little help from Google Translate, I was able to find out a little about the product. The Apicia cream blush is enriched with pollen, essential amino acids, vitamin E & B, carotenoids, and polyphenols.

It's universal shade, which is almost a peachy colour, embellishes all skin tones and enhances the cheekbones while adding softness to the face.

This product retails for €20.00 and was a full sized product also. Now, the colour is very pretty as is the packaging, but I'm not a huge blush person anyway, especially cream blush so I'm not sure how much I'll use this.

Also, a little goes a long way, which scares me because I'd end up looking like a bit of a clown. So although I like the idea of it being in a tube, and the colour is nice, I'm just not sure if I'd trust myself to use it!

I haven't actually tried this next product just yet. I spoke about it a little over on my Insta story the other night, just because I don't really understand how it works but anyway lol. The product is a face mask from Sanctuary Spa called the Purifying Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask. This retails for €4.87 in Boots website.

The detoxifying duo of absorbent charcoal & purifying oxygen in this black bubble sheet mask helps deeply cleanse pores & purify skin to leave it looking revitalised. From the first use, it helps pores appear less visible, skin looks clearer & fresher, excess oil is eliminated & skin feels deeply cleansed, as if you’d had a professional facial.
The mask bubbles up as soon as you place it on your face which creates micro bubbles that help dislodge dirt & grime to allow it to be easily washed away.

I'm pretty excited to try this out, the only thing I'm confused about is that there's two masks in the packet, and you're supposed to use both at the same time. So if anyone has used this and is able to help me out, let me know!

Last up is my fav product out of the whole box & that is the Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil by Dr Botanicals. I am absolutely in love with this facial oil. This was the only product in this box that wasn't full size I believe, but the full size does retail for £55.00, so it is quite pricey.

This facial oil is full of minerals and vitamins, all working together to rejuvenate, renew & protect skin. It's rich in antioxidants to keep skin protected and hydrated when it needs it most.

I do believe this oil is vegan but if I'm wrong, please correct me. It is a gorgeous oil, I was worried it would have an overpowering smell of roses which I wouldn't be into, but it's a nice subtle scent that I literally wanna smell all day long. Although the full size is pricey, I do think I'd go and buy it, just because of how amazing my skin feels after I apply.

It's also the first facial oil I've tried that doesn't leave my skin looking greasy straight after I put it on.

And that is what is in January's Glossybox for 2018. Overall I was quite happy with this box, the only thing I wasn't too pleased with was the multivitamins, but I am happy. If you'd like to join Glossybox you can do so here. I really do think it's worth the money & I personally really enjoy it.

Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram if you'd like to see how I get on with that mask, as I will be talking about it on my stories.
