Christmas Tree Brownie Recipe | Blogmas Day Three

I’ve always absolutely loved baking, but when I was working full-time and then became a full-time student I didn’t really have a lot of time to do it.

Now that we’ve entered into the month of December though, I’m determined to bake loads of Christmas treats. Over the weekend my boyfriend and I baked these gorgeous Christmas tree brownies, and today I’m going to share the recipe with you. Enjoy!

What you need:

  • 180g of plain flour
  • 170g of butter or margarine
  • 112g chocolate of choice
  • 220g of caster sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla essence (optional)
  • 3 eggs
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of baking powder
To decorate:

  • 150g of melted chocolate
  • 75g melted butter or margarine
  • White icing in piping bag
  • Sweets of choice
  • Sticks or candy canes

How to:

  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees and grease an oven tray (or use baking paper)
  2. Sieve your flour into a mixing bowl and add the baking powder. Mix well.
  3. Melt the chocolate and margarine together over low heat.
  4. Remove from heat and add the sugar. Mix well.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla essence.
  6. Mix until everything blends together.
  7. Pour into tin and bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is crusty.
  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  9. While cooling, melt your chocolate and prepare your icing.
  10. Cut brownies into triangle shapes to resemble Christmas trees.

11. Taking your sticks (we used bbq skewers cut in half) or candy canes and push into the end of the triangle.
12. Drizzle your melted chocolate over top and pipe your icing into whatever pattern your desire.

13. Decorate with sweets, allow to set and then enjoy!

These were honestly so much fun to make and so yummy! If I was to do them again I would definitely add peppermint and use candy canes to make them more festive as well as use festive coloured sweets.

Apart from that, there’s not much I’d change and they definitely made a lovely treat to have with a cup of hot chocolate.

Kisses, Xx
